Lithiumate Lite Applications

Can I use the Lite in my application?

YES NO
Please use the Lithiumate Pro instead

The Lithiumate Lite may only be used if:

  • It is a Battery Electric Vehicle (see below)
  • The battery uses Li-ion cells
  • The cells are prismatic (semi-hard plastic, 2 bolts on top)
  • The battery uses a single series string
  • The Lite is used to manage that battery
  • There is no need for a CAN bus
  • The charging current is at most 30 A
  • The discharging current is at most 900 A
  • The number of cells in series is at most 200
  • The lite is properly wired to shut down the motor driver
  • The lite is properly wired to shut down the charger

It's a Battery Electric Vehicle if:

  • It moves
  • It is moved by an electric motor
  • It is moved ONLY by an electric motor
  • The motor is driven by a motor driver (DC controller, or AC inverter)
  • The motor driver is powered by a traction battery pack
  • The traction battery pack is charged by an AC-powered charger
  • Ultimately, all the energy comes from power grid
  • It is regularly stopped to recharge to 100 %:
    • By a charger that plugs into the grid
    • Optionally by solar panels
    • By nothing else
  • When moving, it may be charged:
    • By regenerative braking
    • By nothing else

The Lithiumate Lite may not be used if:

  • It is not a Battery Electric Vehicle (see below)
  • The battery is not Li-ion
  • The cells are pouch (such as LiPo) or cylindrical
  • The battery consists of strings that are then connected in parallel
  • The battery has more than 200 cells in series
  • The Lite does not manage the traction battery
  • The charger puts out more than 30 A
  • The motor driver takes more than 900 A
  • The Lite is not allowed to shut down the motor driver
  • The Lite is not allowed to shut down the charger
  • The BMS must have a CAN bus

It is not a Battery Electric Vehicle if:

  • It doesn't move
  • It's a hybrid
  • The battery is not used to move the vehicle
  • The vehicle is moved by an engine (directly or indirectly, partially or completely)
  • The battery is charged by a fuel cell, generator set, or any source other than AC-power, solar and regen
  • The battery is not fully charged on a regular basis
