Slaves are required for any battery that uses a Master/Slave BMS topology.

Vinci BMS Slave
|
|
A VinciLink Wired Slave connects to a VinciLink Battery Master or to the previous Slave with a 2-wire link;
it connects to its cells through wire taps.
Each VinciLink is isolated from the cell side and is not referenced to any voltage;
the cell side is electrically referenced to the high voltage and is powered by the cells.

A VinciBus Wired Slave connects to a Battery Master through the 5-wire VinciBus;
it connects to its cells through wire taps.
The cell side and the VinciBus side are isolated from each other;
the cell side is electrically referenced to the high voltage, while the VinciBus side is referenced to the vehicle's chassis.
On the cell side it is powered by the cells; on the VinciBus side it is powered by the Application Module.
